Service Descriptions
Chair Massage is performed in a specially designed chair with your clothes on. It is excellent for relaxation and more, depending on the technique(s) used by your massage therapist.
My cupping technique is intended to warm the fascia (connective tissue) and muscles and separate the tissue layers, allowing adhesions to be released and fibers to be moved in their proper and natural positions. I do NOT leave the cups in one location long enough to allow fluids (ie: toxins, blood, etc.) to pool and become trapped in the dermis…thus my treatments do not leave bruises or any marks on your body.
Research has shown that two sessions per week for a period of five weeks has dramatically reduced cellulite in the targeted areas. Cupping massage creates negative pressure to break up the subcutaneous adipose tissue and realigns the collagen fibers of the connective tissue, thereby rebalancing the body and reducing the appearance of cellulite.
Smooth stones are heated and then lubricated with oil, the therapeutic effects of heat are used to relax muscles more deeply. Used as an extension of the therapist’s hands, the use of massage stones induces deep relaxation and provides a unique experience many find to be tremendously calming and centering.
Smooth marble stones are cooled and then lubricated with oil, the therapeutic effects of the cold are used to numb and reset nerves as well as to decrease inflammation. The use of massage stones induces a peaceful nervous system allowing for relaxation and provides a unique experience many find invigorating and pain relieving.
All the benefits of Cold Stone and Hot Stone Massage brought together! This provides a full body, full range therapeutic session…calming nerves and reducing inflammation then warming muscles and connective tissue and increasing circulation to flush stagnant fluids and bring in fresh, nutrient-filled oxygenated blood.
Garnet Water Treatments are performed on your back using up to 30 small garnet stones. Similar to Reflexology, this therapy stimulates the metabolism to balance high energy zones and weak energy zones.
Receive a whole body therapeutic session…through your feet! Reflexology focuses on specific pressure points to help correct energy flows throughout your body, enabling the practitioner to affect change in the organs, glands, muscles and joints of the entire body. It stimulates the circulatory and lymphatic systems and encourages the release of toxins...promoting the body to heal itself. While foot reflexology is more common, hand reflexology can be highly beneficial as well.
Reiki is a Japanese form of stress reduction and relaxation that promotes all-around wellness and good health. Reiki can be employed to clean, clear, align and balance chakras and energy bodies. Zero-Point therapy restores and rejuvenates at a cellular/quantum level.
Organic massage lotion is used with smooth, gliding strokes. Swedish massage uses firm but gentle pressure to promote relaxation, ease muscle tension and create other health benefits (including increasing circulation which moves out old stagnant fluids and brings in fresh fluids to increase oxygen and nutrition and decrease toxins).
Swedish Massage is designed to relax the muscles in your body; it is not intended to reform fascia, release trigger points, clear adhesions, soften/reshape scar tissue, retrain muscles or stabilize tendons.
Swedish Spa Massage includes aromatherapy, hot towels and warm organic massage lotion.
Organic massage lotion and/or cream is used with a wide array of modalities at your disposal during this session. The focus of this Full Body Massage will be to relax and warm muscles and release adhesions (including trigger points). Deep Tissue massage should never be painful as once the body becomes defensive it does not allow for healing. I work the tissues, persuading them to allow me to gently sink deeper…thus giving you the therapeutic results your body needs.
Deep Tissue Massage is designed to warm and relax muscles and surrounding tissues, release trigger points and clear adhesions; it is not intended to reform fascia, soften/reshape scar tissue, retrain muscles or stabilize tendons.
Therapeutic Massage/Orthopedic Massage
A targeted massage focused on specific problem areas. The objective of this massage will be to warm muscles and surrounding tissues, release adhesions (including trigger points), reset proprioceptors, stabilize muscle attachments and retrain all of the above to maintain a healthy state of being.
Therapeutic modalities include: Deep Tissue, Trigger Point, Neuromuscular Release, Myofascial Release, Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitation (PNF), Orthopedic Massage Techniques
While every massage session is adapted to the needs of each individual, my therapeutic routine follows the 4 R’s: Relax, Release, Reset and Retrain.
Relax: We begin the session by warming and relaxing the muscles and fascia via various massage techniques.
Release: Next any trigger points/muscle knots will be released via an array of approaches that best suit the client in that area and at that time.
Reset: Now the proprioceptors need to be reset. Messages are sent to the brain via the central nervous system from muscle spindles (providing information regarding changes in the length of a muscle) and Golgi tendon organs (providing information regarding changes in muscle tension). This is achieved via pressure in the appropriate places along the muscle/tendon while moving the muscle through it’s full range of motion. Should full range of motion not be allowed by the body, techniques such as passive and/or active release will be employed. This process also stabilizes the joints and muscles.
Retrain: Muscles, tendons and fascia must be retrained to hold, or bring themselves back to a state of stability. The time frame to retrain is dependent upon each client: what they have been through over the years, what their current lifestyle is and how willing and able they are to help the progress along outside of the therapeutic sessions. Each therapeutic session performed is a part of retraining…given the sessions are done prior to a flare up of an existing condition/imbalance or the occurrence of a new injury. If the problem is severe, then sessions are recommended every 2-3 days. Generally, a good retraining routine begins with weekly sessions for a month, then bi-weekly sessions for 2-4 months, followed by monthly sessions for maintenance.
