Let’s face it, we all at some time or another in our lives have wished for a “make me feel better” miracle. We all have issues with health, injuries, depression, negative thoughts and/or the occasional inability to see the light at the end of the tunnel. Medications are great at treating symptoms…and, more often than not, at creating a few on their own. However, until and unless we address the root issue causing these problems, the symptoms will never really go away. Our minds and bodies are amazing! They do have the ability to correct and balance themselves if we allow them to go through their natural processes. There are ways we can step back and give our body the time and atmosphere it needs to heal itself. Massage and Reiki can help us harness our own “internal power” to make our bodies stronger and our minds more clear and focused.
Massage
Massage Therapy has an incredibly long and illustrious history, first recorded in writing in China around 2700 BCE. In the mid-1800’s massage therapy was introduced in America. In 1970’s this ancient therapy was finally ushered into the animal field.
Throughout the ages practitioners have found that massage therapy affects the entire being—physically and mentally as well as on an emotional level.
A massage therapist’s focus revolves around eliciting health, balance and harmony in the human's or animal’s system...on, and including, all levels.
We discovered massage offers similar benefits to our animal companions as it does for humans...along with a few species specific improvements as well.
Reiki
Reiki is a wonderful stress reduction and relaxation technique that was re-discovered by Dr. Mikao Usui in the early 1900’s. However, given the right setting and circumstances, Reiki can be so much more!
During a Reiki session our brain waves become slower, increase in amplitude and become more synchronous, our bodies relax to the point where our eyes naturally close and we drift into a pre-sleep state. Alpha brain waves are produced en masse, which allows our body to heal itself with the assistance of the relaxing and balancing Reiki energy. Healing is promoted in our body via our energies moving back into a state of balance, energy blocks and imbalances cleared and corrected, energy flow becoming stabilized throughout our body and our brain waves pulsing in unison with the earth’s magnetic field.
Reiki sessions are described as relaxing and peaceful, which has a tendency to continue well after the session has concluded.
